RFIDCAM has been involved in these recent RFID projects:
Avalanche rescue beacon
We have designed a very novel low cost 457kHz avalanche transmitter and receiver for a customer.
Cambridge University second year computer science undergraduate project
The remit was:
Modern Media at May Balls
The combination of smart phones with near field communication (NFC) and weather proof radio frequency identification (RFID) technology would provide an interesting opportunity for May Balls in terms of both security and interfacing to social media. The project would produce software for an Android phone with NFC and a server to: (i) allow authorised entry to a May Ball; (ii) to aid roving security guards (detecting gate crashers); (iii) allowing Facebook-like activities/locations; and (iv) to upload real-time phones to both the May Ball site and Facebook. You should approach Ball committees to assess the market and hooks should be provided to a Ball ticketing system and to Twitter feeds, and the result is on Youtube at: here
Duplicate poker tournaments
We have been involved in specifying tags and equipment for duplicate poker.
Cambridge May Ball
We have provided two rugged RFID65 computers with MiFare cards to help prevent gate crashing at a major Cambridge May Ball. For more information click here

Global clothing brand - 30th birthday party
We were approached by Outside Line, a Digital Communications Agency, to provide consultancy and technology for a major event in London. 3000 RFID wristbands were provided in two colours (VIP and normal) together with 8 reader/writers to be mounted within kiosks. The timescales were very tight as the wristbands were to be sold through the clothing retail outlets.
The Agency wrote software to associate the wristband with the personal details and image of the purchaser, both for access control reasons and to enhance the experience at the event, held in the O2 dome. In Outside Line's words:
This was a big one! After individually printing 2500 RFID tagged wristband invites for Diesel’s 30th birthday party, we managed to get almost all of the guests to pre-register through a combination of a micro-site on diesel.com and in-store touch screen kiosks, leaving us with a huge database of photos of punters before the night had even come close. This meant we could incorporate real guests into the projected visuals on the night, something that had seemed impossible in the original meetings…
The event itself took place on the 11th October 2008 at Matter at the 02. Thirty different acts, a huge digital photo-wall and the icing on the cake, 8 touchscreen RFID driven live chat/imaging kiosks projected onto every surface in the club, a recipe for a very tired set of Outside Line workers, but very happy and sometimes amazed guests!
School internet access in Albania
We were approached by a major Albanian systems house to provide 3000+ re-wearable silicone water-proof RFID wristbands in several colours with logo and website both embossed and debossed. In addition 20+ RFID reader/writers were provided. See image to the left.
Child tracking
We have provided advice and consultancy for an innovative system for tracking children within a park - more information on request.
Animal identification
We have provided equipment to a Scottish supplier of animal identification products
Industrial equipment maintenance
We have provided handheld wireless RFID reader/writers to a system house implementing a system to ensure regular daily maintenance of safety equipment.
